In 1998, the Buyers Health Care Action Group (BHCAG), a group of prestigous Minnesota employers, launched an awards program. The "Excellence in Quality" awards recognize Patient Choice Care Systems’ achievements in providing high-quality health care to Patient Choice members.
All Care Systems that participate in the Patient Choice network are invited
to apply for an award each year, although not all choose to participate.
This year, two Care Systems received a gold award by demonstrating their valuable new
ideas for advancing quality care.

Fairview Physician Associates for the inclusion of clinical disease management capabilities in its electronic medical record system.
Park Nicollet/Methodist Care System for its systematic intervention for reducing cardiac complications among surgical patients.
